Drive in Radlett, Herts, WD7

Ground Art installed a stunning new block paved driveway for this imposing house in Radlett. The new drive finished a large refurbishment project on the property and replaced a decaying tarmac driveway. The site had an unusual shape and potentially awkward gradient. Ground Art re-graded the site and the new driveway slopes gently into a large courtyard area. This driveway won the 2010 best regional driveway at the Marshalls Register Awards, a highly prestigious achievement.

The slope of the site gave the potential for water to run down the drive, a problem with the old driveway which was solved with an ugly speed bump at the top of the drive. Ground Art’s solution included constructing an invisible bump at the top of the driveway which prevents the water running down the drive and is so invisible that you wouldn’t even know that its there.

Our clients were delighted with the driveway we created saying that it “makes the house”. Finishing a large renovation programme the driveway makes “the first impression of the house one of awe.” In fact, they said that “people haven’t stopped commenting on it!”

Driveway in Bushey, WD23

Ground Art installed this driveway in Bushey, Hertfordshire which went on to win the Marshalls National Award 2009 for Best Use of a New Marshalls Product. It also won the same award at the regional level. The panel judging the award commented of Ground Art’s work: “The colour perfectly complements the property and workmanship demonstrates a great level of competence. For this project, Ground Art designed the new driveway to enable a good use of space, whilst maintaining space for flower-beds.

Patio in Harpenden, AL5

Ground Art installed this stunning patio in Harpenden, Hertfordshire in two phases as part of a wider garden transformation. This project is special and required large amounts of planning as the patio contained not a single cross joint in the stone (where 4 corners meet). Furthermore, we installed a special eco-friendly brownwater irrigation system which harnessed excess rainwater from the roof of the property to water the garden.

Driveway in Radlett

Ground Art installed this driveway in Radlett, Hertfordshire as part of a major refurbishment of the property. The driveway was formerly a two car drive leading down to the garage and Ground Art designed and installed a new ‘carriage driveway’ as well as landscaping the surrounding area. Brick piers were constructed and lighting was installed. Furthermore, a large drainage system was installed as part of the wider works to the property.

Ground Art installed this block paving driveway in Leverstock Green, Hemel Hemstead, Hertfordshire. This project involved creating a pattern which worked well within the area, as well as constructing a low brick wall to the side of the driveway, and a new front door step.

In order to meet the clients’ requirement that there should be no front door step, Ground Art sloped a section of the driveway upwards to the front door, and the other section downwards towards the garage. This involved creating a complex underground drainage system.

We are able to perform related services, such as lighting, drainage, brickwork, fencing, decking, or turfing, in house, reducing the hassle of dealing with a range of contractors.

No two patio projects are the same, and we work with each client on an individual basis to truly ensure that they get what they want. This means that in the past, we have installed a wide range of unusual features to meet requirements. In one case, for instance, we installed a special drainage system which harvested the grey-water from the property and channelled it into the irrigation system in the garden, with the process taking place underneath the patio we constructed.
